Ok I found this 74 SRV 190 this fall and have started to restore it. I bought it for $600 on the trailer and was hoping that I only had to do the floor and interior of course it needs new stringers and everything else so I plan on doing it this spring. I did get some stuff done this fall right before the weather turned really cold.
Here are some pics from when I bought it.

I did get a good bit done before the weather turned too cold I cut the floor out and got the motor running and winterized it. Took all the interior panels out to redo over the winter.
Here are some pics.
Removing the foam from under the deck. You can see the stringers are shot too.

A shot of the engine only has 88 hours on it and the hour meter does work.

Looks like you are going to be gutting that bad boy to the bear bones, I bet the transom is about the same condition.

All indications point to the transom being good but I do need to take some samples to be sure. I do need to remove the gas tank and clean it out, when I did run the motor I ran it from an auxilary tank so as to not put garbage fuel thru the motor. The carb needed rebuilt which I did already over the winter to keep me busy. I found new seats at of all places Wal Mart online got a good price and free shipping.
Here is a shot of the carb.

Love the lines of this Ray,

Where I had the cover made for my boat, and store, the same boat sits next to mine... I would love to restore such a boat... I sat and admired the lines for quite some time..

Hurry up spring!

Nice Ray man. Have a look at my thread before you think the transom is good. I will be posting more pictures and video today with all the horror.

Frisco I have been following your Sea Ray thread that is too bad someone took that poor care of the boat. This started with the USCG requiring flotation in all boats under 20 feet in length, and made worse by the manufacturers use of foam for structural support in some boats. This led to foam holding water and causing rot of wooden stringers, decks, etc.. Just a bad deal all the way around. My 1975 35' Chris Craft has no wood in the stringers all hollow box beam fiberglass stringers and a self supporting hull which means it needs no bulk heads for the hull to keep its shape its also built like a tank and weighs close to 20,000 lbs.

Re: 1974 Sea Ray SRV 190 Restoration

Ok the Sea Ray finally came home after a winters nap at my brother in laws it made it much easier for snow removal etc for the winter with it out of the driveway, hopefully that stuff is over. I did get a chance to remove the steering wheel and just do a general check of the boat after a winter in Ohio outside. The steering wheel which I thought might actually be teak turned out to be teak looking plastic but it cleaned up nicely so we will keep it for now. Didn't get any chance to do much else as I had to drop the tongue from the trailer so that my truck and the boat fit on the same side of the driveway. At least it is home again and we are supposed to have some nice weather later this week so I may get a chance to work on it this week.

Ok I did get out to the boat for a little bit this afternoon after work. I picked up a 4 1/2" angle grinder the night before and used it to open up the back deck area next to the motor mount. Not Good here is a pic.
As you can see the motor mounts are rotten too so this entire area will need to be opened up and looked at.

Another shot up close looking pretty bad here looks like I have to pull the engine.

I need to find some way to get this bad boy into the garage so I can work later into the evenings.

Re: 1974 Sea Ray SRV 190 Restoration

Well spent some time in the boat the other day took some measurements so I can pull the motor and get ready to replace the stringers and the motor mount beams. I cut into the motor mount some more this thing is really rotten. I am making arangements to pull the motor not sure if I should just bite the bullet and rent a hoist or go get my chain hoist which is in my Chris at the marina. For $25 for a day I may just go rent one might be easier.

Here is a pic where I cut the mounting beam some more.

Re: 1974 Sea Ray SRV 190 Restoration

Unfortunately this boat has been sold for scrap value I got what I paid so I am happy but not really. Hated to see the boat go for scrap but no time and no energy for the project I did buy another boat an 86 Chris Craft Cavalier 19 footer which has proved to be a very good boat so far needs some interior work but I have seats etc already from the searay. So on to the next project!
