Hi all, my buddy just inherited a 1974 ish Viking 6 hp outboard, this thing is very clean and runs as smooth as a new one. He changed the gear oil and oil is leaking through the small hole (see pic and red circle) in photo. Anybody have any ideas, too much oil, etc? Not sure if it was leaking prior.
tks

Did some searching and found out that it may be normal to have some "spent" exhaust coming out of those, what they called "weep" holes. So it may not be gear oil at all, apparently those holes are there to protect the foot from cracking in extreme cold weather, relieving the pressure, etc.

Right,"weep holes"
Built by Chrysler, Chrysler bought West Bend c: 1965.
If you smell the gunk it will smell more like gas than "lube".
