I am working on a 1974 Thompson Laguna with a Waukesha converted Ford 302 with a Volvo 270t. It has been sitting up for awhile. I need to know if there is a seal kit for the outdrive. I also need to replace the trim indicator cable. I may also need some bearings. I know the pivot pins need to be replaced. I will also need the exhaust manifolds and the risers as well. If I can get these done for a reasonable price. I might be able to pick it up on the cheap...like what I have in it for labor. It needs some work on the interior, but nothing I can't handle. Thanks for the help.

HI. I'm no expert, but I thought I'd share some observations.

The 270T is nothing more than a 270 with a power tilt added. So yes, all the seals are available. However not all seals are just plug and play. In some instances, you need to reshim and reset the bearing preloads etc. Same with bearing replacement.

Volvo wasn't using ford 302s back in 74. The Manifolds and risers are most likely not volvo, post some pics of the manis.

Here's some parts for the 270.

Volvo-Penta Complete Outdrive Seal Kits - iboats

If you're on a tight budget I would search ebay for used parts, like the pins, etc.

Good Luck!

Same with bearing replacement.
Captmellow is "correct" to bearing replacement.
I can completely reseal an AQ series drive (sp or DP) without any re-shimming required whatsoever.... as long as the shims are not disturbed.
The only component change that would require a new rolling torque value and re-shimming, would be if the main drive gear seal surface wear washer was to be replaced.
The main drive gear back-to-back tapered roller bearings pre-load (aka rolling torque value) is controlled via the small shims within this part.
No two of these seal surface wear washers are machined the same.
This would be SEQ # 21 here.
Otherwise, there should be no need to re-shim anything when simply replacing seals only.
If we swap one transmission or lower unit to another Intermediate housing... then YES... re-shimming is required.
