1975 Johnson 135 w/ TNT. I get it out on the water at WOT and trim the engine up, only to notice a couple of minutes later that it has dropped down a little. The trim gauge does not work, but I know it's dropping down. While trailering I let it rest on the "trailering bar". Parked at home I have to take it off of the "trailering bar" and trim it all the way down so my wife can get around it to her car.

Unknown but doubtful if fluid has been added in the last 5 years. No signs of leaks or puddles.
Seems to trim down all the way and tilt up all the way (not under power) with no issues.

Should I try to cycle it up/down a couple of times with the fill screw loose to bleed it?

If the internal seals are wasted, is a big job to replace them?

Thanks

The PTT reservoir should be filled with fluid when the engine is in an extreme tilt up position. Fill to overflowing, then reinstall the fill screw.

If the fluid is as it should be, the usual cause of that problem is a faulty Stand Up Valve Assy, a two part valve.

The male portion of the valve is screwed into the bottom of the starboard lift cylinder with the female portion being secured in the bottom of the starboard tilt piston.
