I received my box of new parts today ordered from BRP. Mostly linkage pieces for the carbs to replace those that seemed worn out or wrong.

I have a question regarding the throttle-to-choke linkage.

Looking at the photo of my carbs, you will see that the throttle and choke linkages are reversed. the adjustable link is on the throttles and the fixed link is on the chokes for some reason. I have changed those. The throttle-to-choke linkage is my problem. It sometimes sticks on the adjustment screw on the bottom carb linkage where the link goes up and over the screw. If you look at the parts list you will see this link is shaped differently and is designed to physically go up and around this screw to avoid snagging on the screw head. My new part received from BRP is exactly the same as what was on the engine in the photo. It does not look like the one in the parts list. In fact the one one the engine in the photo was bent just little out of shape to help avoid snagging on the screw head. this appears to be a "field adjustment".

Was this link changed? Or did I get the wrong part, again?

This is where I bought the parts from and the drawing I copied is from their site as well. The part received form BRP does not match their drawing or what is found in the manual. The shape of the new part and the part on my motor were the same. But I could tell someone had bent the linkage a little to prevent the linkage from getting hung up on the screw head.

The piece that you have on your motor is part number 384148 - Link assy used on the 1973 135HP motors.

The 1975 135HP used part number 387072, as shown in the service manual and the parts diagrams.

Thanks for the reply!

Oh gosh, please don't tell me I order the wrong part:eek: I've done dumber things. But that would mean everything I ordered was wrong. I got new throttle, choke, timing advance, and throttle-to-choke linkages; and their plastic components. I am trying to tighten up some slack on all of these links.

I'll check when I get home to see if the part numbers match. But I did match up the part numbers on my invoice to each envelope part number. Then I compared the numbers to the diagram in the parts book and even printed out the diagram so I could tell which part was which when putting them on. So I am pretty sure I have the part for the 1975 (or at least what they gave me).
Two items I ordered (two washers) came as two different sized bolts. But I checked the part number on the little envelope and it was the correct one.

I think you're ok - you just have some extra parts on that can come off. I don't think you need the throttle to choke linkage. Choke should be activated by the solenoid only.

According to the the invoice, I ordered and received part # 387072.
Does anybody know if this is an accepted substitute or did they goof?

If it's the same as on the '77 85hp I may have something for you.

Edit: Looks pretty close, but the numbers don't match - bummer.

And wouldn't ya know it...I called Evinrude parts department to check on this part number and what I was supposed to get and they were already closed:( (4:30 Central).

Just cheching with you all in case you were aware of some type of service bulletin or the like that addressed the linkage being changed.

What's interesting is that if you rotate the part on its axis 180 degrees while looking at it from the side (just as if it was sitting on the carb) It looks exactly like what is shown in the service manual and online. But...the side that is supposed to stick into the plate on the choke is pointing away from the carb.

Anyways, I have new linkage on the carbs ad choke so now I have to do a new link-n-sync. Woo-hoo!

Thanks again

Well I checked with BuRP and they had no service bulletins or the like the use the other linkage in place of the 387072 and suggested I try again to order.

Ezeke are you sure the part I got was a 384148?
