i got the motor running today and i noticed that it shakes alot. was wondering if that means motor mounts are going bad or the timing not set right. the 2 motor mounts i saw look good they are not cracked or hard.
If you mean that it wiggles back and forth at idle, that is the way it is supposed to be. If you mean that it is flopping all over the place, you have a broken mount someplace. If you can grab hold of the flywheel and move the whole powerhead fore and aft, the upper front mount is broken. If you mean the hood is loose and flopping around, there are four rubber mounts that hold the hood--one or more of them might be broken. Finally, the bracket that holds the two front hood mounts is easy to break with rough handling and storage.
You have to do a little bit of detective work and push/pull on things till you find something that is unusually loose and floppy.
