Hi,

Well I took my boat out on Monday for the first time in 9 years. I had the engine checked over and everything before the trip. The mechanic cleaned the carb and cleaned & adjusted the points. He said it ran good.

Although I was thrilled to death that she ran, I was concerned that the engine was missing quite a bit. It got much better as the day went on but still was quite noticeable. My first thoughts go to the spark plugs. The mechanic said they looked new and he didn't do anything with them. The fact is, they were new about 7 years ago. I put them in and never ran the engine. Should I replace the spark plugs with new ones???? What else might be causing my problems. BTW, the gas was new 89 Octance with a 50:1 oil mixture.

Thanks,

Shane

Re: 1975 55HP Chrysler Question

Change the spark plugs and the Ignition wires
And As I recently learned check the fuel pump and filter. Also if the bottom of the gas tank is all black get a new one along with a new fuel line. ;)
