I have 1975 70hp evinrude ser#j0015564 mod#7057. While trying to fix a fuel related problem I lost spark. The top cylindar wasn't running and I had pulled the plug and hung it against the motor to see if it would spark. I had spark and had decided that my problem had to be fuel related. I left for a while and came back to try spraying fuel in top carb while engine was running to narrow possibilities. While engine was running fuel in carb didnt have any effect. I was playing with the throttle controls on the side of the carbs when the engine caughed and died. It wouldn't restart and after looking I realized I had been running it with that spark plug hanging. Know I have no spark in any cylindar. I am assuming my loss of spark is due to this but don't know wheather operating the throttle linkages @ the carb instead of using the throttle lever and allowing it to change the timing at the same time could have caused a problem. I didn't accelerate it very much. Assuming my problem was arc relatted, what part of the electrical system did I most likely hurt. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

The powerpack must be able to ground.

By removing the wire you may have done damage to the power pack.

This does not happen very often...but can happen.

TMD
