1975 70hp johnson really high idle

I just picked up this motor (70ESL75E) with a project boat im thinking of restoring. compression is close to 110 psi on all 3 cylinders. When I go to start it, it revs right up and wont drop down in rpm to a decent idle level. The throttle cam is well off from the roller on the carbs (approx. 3/4") , I cant seem to find any adjustment left on the carbs to bring the roller back. Any suggestions please ?
Oh I haven't gone through the carbs yet as I just patched it all together for comp tests and just wanted to see if it'd start.

update:

Upon further inspection I saw that the throttle plates weren't closing fully. so I adjusted the screws on the carb linkage which seems to have sorted the issue for now, as that allowed the roller to move back to the cam. Although she wont idle too good, but I guess i'll have that sorted once I go through the carbs.

I stripped and clean the carbs and its running much better not 100 % but close. I did notice however the needle seems to be sticking in the seat. If I get a carb rebuild kits for this, would the ones with the little clip around the needle that attaches it to the float, work for this model ? it just seems to be a better idea overall, the needles in this motor, don't have a notch on top where a clip can fit anyways.

My 1977 70 hp idles 400-600 'more' rpm's on muffs and (or) in a barrel than it does in the lake. Just letting you know, yours 'might' do the same

​I did a quick search for a 'complete' (needle, seat, float and gaskets) carb rebuild kit for your motor. It shows a clip for the needle that hooks onto the float.

ok i'll try track down a rebuild kit for this year, as the clip should sort the issue of the needle sticking.
