So I finally put the boat in the water a few hours ago and she was runing fine until I hit a tree stump. Didn't do anything to the prop or anything, but it wouldn't go high speed anymore and it's very hard if at all to keep it running. Someone said, I might have sheared a "timing pin" in flywheel. Is that possible? I'll change the sparks plugs to the type you suggested just to make sure, but what else could it be. I mean it ran fine before hitting the stump!

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Pull the nut and washer that hold the flywheel on. Look at the shaft and see if the keyways in the crankshaft and the flywheel line up. There is a key that may have sheared.

Thanks. I found the flywheel key at a local store, plan to pick it up today after work. Then check the key. Where can I buy the flywheel puller though?

Check your local auto parts store for a harmonic balancer puller, you need to use grade 8 bolts on the flywheel.

Don't think you read the advice.
Why did you buy the key before the check? That is the wrong order....;)

Key is only $4 and once I was there (bit of a drive) it was worth for me to pickup the keys. I would have waited if it was high dollar item.
