1975 85hp Help

Ok here we go guys, I just put a 1975 85HP Johnson on my 1986 Skeeter bass boat, the only connection I made was the big red connector with about 8 wires coming from the boat to the motor. Is this the only electrical connection between the boat and the motor? I never had a outboard on the boat, I been looking at a wiring diagram and it looks like I should have a hot wire coming from the battery to the solenoid and a ground going to the powerhead from the battery. HELP PLEASE

You are correct. You need a set of cables from the battery. Positive to the side of the solenoid and negative to the engine block.

Wow, I don't know crap about outboards, the wires were there, I hook them up and it cranking great.
