Took out the boat today for the first time after rebuilding
the floor & transom. Boat and motor performed flawlessly.
Got a lot of help from everyone here.
Question for today is, on Friday evening, ran the motor
on the muffs, had to remove the housing and manually
choke the motor to start it. fired right away.
Took it to the lake this morning, had to manually choke the motor to start it. It will not start using the fast idle lever on the control box if the motor is cold for a few days.
Once I get the motor running the idle lever works fine, it is just at start up, does this mean the automatic choke does not work or it needs an adjustment.

The cold start lever doesn't have anything to do with the choke. The choke is controlled by the choke solenoid, which is controlled by the toggle switch under the key. If you turn your key to on, and lift up on the toggle switch can you here the solenoid click, closing the choke?

The cold start lever advances the throttle for cold starts, lift it up and when the engine fires up push the lever down some at let it warm up at a high idle. Be careful, sometimes the cold start lever will advance the throttle quite a bit if you lift it up all the way, be ready to push it down when the engine fires. I would only lift the lever about 1/2 way and see how that works, you just have to find the right spot.
