Hello everyone. This is my first boat but I am not a stranger to engines in general. The 115hp evinrude is on a 1972 19ft Crestliner and the first time i took it out it had a real bad miss under load so I changed thew fuel pump and that is fixed but now its like it wont....GO if you know what I mean... It gets to full throttle but being a two stroke its like the power band isn't kicking in. I think its timeing Adv? It did hit once for about 100ft and WOW it leaped out of the lake so power isn't the issue. I've flushed fuel system, cleaned carbs, replaced plugs, and the entire engine electrical system. Compression is steady 122-125 on all 4. So any thoughts would be a bug help I'd like to take my wife out to the lake for mothers day. Thanks ;)

I'd almost bet it's not a timing issue but it could be. Look on the starboard side and put the throttle all the way to wide open in gear (motor off naturally). The throttle arm should move a plate under the flywheel until it hits a stop screw which should have a rubber cap on it.

If the plate (timer base) is moving to the stop screw the timing is advancing. Check that out and let us know what you find. If it's moving the motor may only be running on 2 or 3 cylinders.

yes it does have a stop screw. I noticed that it has an automotive fuel filter on it. When i put it on there i wasn't thinking. Becouse its vacume fed would i have to use a gravity filter?
