On my evinrude 135 I can get it started when I have the warm up lever about halfway up, but it wont idle in the run position by itself. I have to leave that lever half way up. I can ingage it into forward and reverse without it dying, but when I put it in the water it bogs down and dies when I put it in gear. Ive cleaned the carbs and rebuilt them. What should I check to see what the problem is?

When you rebuilt them, did you remove the core plugs and clean the idle capilaries? That's most likely where your problem is.

Check spark and compression as well. You could easily be running on three cylinders with the symptoms that you describe.

The warm up lever advances the timing, so you should check the linkage.

Check the synchronization of the two carburetors by taking the air silencer cover off and observing that the plates are perfectly synchronized throughout their range.

Nice video, but does not tell you how to check the idle capillaries on your carburetors, or even where they are located.

The idle may be set too low. Should be 650-700 in gear, when at rest, floating in the water. The idle speed is determined by the idle timing.
