Hi everyone,
I currently have a 1990 9.9 evinrude, but recently bought a bigger/wider jon boat. I found a 1975 Evinrude 25 (model 25503b) for sale (from a dealer). Whats your thoughts on the 75 25hp? I like how my 9.9 idles down real nice and low, I am worried that this one wont be the same? Any worries/problems with this particular year/model? Do I just keep the 9.9 or sell it to buy the 25hp?
Is this motor pretty reliable, easy to work on, easy to get parts...etc. Please let me know all your thoughts on the 75. Am i making a mistake w this motor? Dealer wants $550 for the 25 evinrude, and it looks pretty nice n clean!

Well, I am an OMC fan, so any year Evie or Johnny that runs and seems to be well taken care of is a good buy in my bias opinion....
Is it an electric tiller? Now there's an engine....
All the older models will eventually need maintenance, but, I wouldn't sell the 9.9 if you don't haqve too. I have a MINT '84 Johnny and I will NEVER sell...These motors are very sought after and versitile and I am kicking myself for trading my '93 30hp Evie electric tiller...Got them both from original aged owner and they are clean enough to eat off of. The '84 still starts 1st pull after sitting all winter...

Just my biased opinion....

I have an '81 johnson 25hp rope start. I just had it on the water for first time last Saturday. I'm really impressed how it pushed my 16' tinnie in strong head wind. It idles down low and also has great torque. I think its definitely a keeper as stated earlier. $550 doesn't sound bad, esp if dealer serviced the usual items like carb, impeller and lower oil. Great motor. I can't wait to take it out again.
