1975 evinrude 70 hp on a 17 ft bowrider

hello every one. i have 1971 thunderbird seminola 17 ft my brother in law got this boat first. it came with a 100hp johnson. he sold the motor. then i got the boat. i have another boat thats 15 ft with a 70 hp evenrude. but the boats bad. would this 70 hp evenrude push this big a boat. both
boats are fiberglass bowriders with walk thru windsheild

should be fine. I run a 70 on a 17' dual console; it's a fairly light boat but it runs well, pulls skiiers and tubes.

Obviously it will, but the question is what kind of performance are you expecting? Depends on all the variables you can imagine. Changing props will probably be your first order of business, but first you need a data point by running the existing prop and getting a WOT rpm number with the boat lightly loaded for a starting point. Then come back and we can talk you through what you plan to do with it and what you might expect in the way of a new prop and performance.
