Ok, i just bought this 1975 Glastron V-178 Bowrider...I've just been looking at things and i notice this water inlet in the hull...it's about 1/3 of the way back the boat from the bow and it's on the Port side, it travels inside the boat and terminates in the floor of the Bow seating area on the Port side...What is this? Was there a plug that went here...doesn't make much sense to me, though i know theres a purpose. Thanks!

go to classic glastron boats and maybe you can figure out what it is. You can go specifically to your model. Good luck.

Yeah, im very familiar with classic glastrons site...never seen anything there, they have good general info but nothing like you would find in an Owners Manual...I've seen this before on boats but still have no idea of it's purpose..Need more help...Maybe Post a Thread in another catagory...Thanks!

My 1969 Fabuglas has that too, I have no idea what it is for. It seems like if you put a drain plug in there it would be easy for it to get knocked out.

In looking at the classic section for your 178 I noticed that it had a bow type cooler. Maybe it's a drain for that. Is it pulling in water?

Well it would let water in just by the up and down movement of the bow...from where it enters the hull, to where it comes through the floor, it only rises about 3 or 4 inches so water will splash in if left unplugged...and no, its not the cooler drain, it is outside of the seat area...the coolers where under the seats and did have drains...but thats not what this is...I could plug it and forget it, but it is original to the boat so there must be a purpose! Thanks for helping..

i have a 74 glastron starflite if your talking about the one thats on the floor of the bow section it's for a live well..you connect your live well there so you can let the water out when your done...ohh and you don't plug this whole the water doesn't go in cause the water doesn't go that high just thought you would like to know.

Thank you very much tistore...and after further review it does rise more than i first noticed. I also noticed it looked like it was never meant to be plugged...no threads or anything. Great job, Thanks!

If it's similar to mine, it's a drain for the bow section if the bow section of your boat is above the deck ( built in gas tank under the bow ). There should be a flexible hose running from the drain hole from the port side of the hull to the port side of the bow deck, right down in the corner where the port console meets the bow.

There's the hole, and if you look at the cap, there is a blue and black hose hanging ( currently disconnected ). That connects to that fitting and allows rainwater, etc to drain from that portion of the boat.
