Greetings, I just aquired a 6 hp Johnson outboard that appears to have an OMC accessory on the throttle that should allow me to also shift with this control. I am missing a braket. Has anyone seen such a rig or know of a source for parts? It works by pressing a button on the throttle and pulling the trottle forward to engage forward gear, and pushing in to engage reverse, with neutral in the middle. The bracket to anchor the cable to the motor case is missing. Any help?

I've never heard of such a device, but if you call tim's outboard, 218-682-2331, and ask correctly, they may know, and maybe even have the part for a reasonable price?

Dude!!!! Tim's is fantastic! He identified it as a "shotgun slide" and knew exactly what I was talking about. Parts are on the way. Thank you so much!

I have/had one of those shift systems, its a good idea, but the quality of construction is poor. Mine lasted about one season before the cable broke, other bits and pieces broke before that, but until the cable broke it was still usable. I just went back to the stock setup.

Well, I don't know if the original throttle is under the "shotgun" part. I don't know if it just fit over the top or it replaced the normal throttle, and I didn't want to take it apart. Anyway, it is a quirky option that goes with the boat I bought it with. A 1950's Klepper Master foldable boat..... Just part of the quirky package I guess.....

Klepperman, here is a picture of the original OMC kit as installed (on a 6-horse, no less!). You should be able to see from the picture if yours is complete or not.

The picture is from a 1974 OMC Accessories brochure I have.

That's IT! Just missing the mounting block to the engine case. Should be coming in the mail soon. Thanks everyone for all your help!
