1975 Johnson 85hp. V4 no spark

I was recently given a old Tahiti Torino with a 1975 Johnson 85hp. V4. The boat is in decent shape, but I want to get the motor running before putting any money into the boat. I have good compression all 4 cylinders are between 115psi-120psi. The motor turns over but no spark. I read to remove the black/yellow wire at the power pack and try to see if you get spark. I tried this and still no spark. I ordered a selco repair manual but its gonna be a couple days before I receive it. I am a newb to boats so any advice would be a great help.

Lucky you didn't order a factory manual. The ignition troubleshooting section in those is obsolete. I don't know about the Seloc. But here is what you need: http://issuu.com/cdielectronics/docs/troubleshootingguide?e=2044661/2010855. You will need a DVA meter.

Does the brand matter or will any DVA be ok?
