I have a '75 Merc 50 blue stripe(SN 4286540) with no spark. After some testing I figured it was the switch box. I found a local guy that had a brand new one part number 337-4411 that was in original box with receipt when he bought it in 1989.

Observations..
1) After I got home and researched the part number it appears to be for a 70-71 model 50 Merc.
2) First thing I noticed is that though it does look the same...ie has the Red/Blue/White/Green four connections like mine..... IT DOESN't have the threaded posts in it.

Questions:
1) Will this model of CDI box work for my motor?
2) Do those posts/terminals screw out so I can use the ones in my motor?

Thanks,
Tim

Yeah, that is the wrong switchbox, its for the non lightning energizer systems. I have a few spares if you need one.

Re: 1975 Merc 50hp Switchbox Question

Yea I am interested as long as it isn't gonna cost me an arm and a leg. I was thinking a better option may to just convert to an older magneto and eliminate the bad switchbox and/or possible bad coil. Do you have any 4 cyl mag's laying around? Feel free to PM me.

Thanks,
Tim
