hi guys i just purchased a 1975 ( I think ?) merc 115 and the gentleman said it ran prior to parking it for two years than pulled it out and it had no spark !! I am currently not sure where to start, i am a diesel engine mechanic so i am handy just don"t want to waste any time chasing ghosts. how could i test the coil ? distributor ? it seems like he was in there because he pulled the coil wire out instead of threading it !! any info would be greatly appreciated. :)

The coil wire is a slip fit. The high tension leads screw into the distributor cap. The rotor is not removeable. Ign parts are pretty pricey.

Run the ign test on the CDIElectronics web site. It will verify the wiring, switchbox and coil are good. If no spark then, it is likely the trigger.
BTW- coils are usually good.

I just found out today it is my trigger gone, that is why I have no spark ! Does anyone know where I can find a new or used one ? I also have a 1979 motor not sure if the trigger off of that would fit ?
