This motor quit on me on the ICW right after a refueling. I couldn't get it to hit at all. Rebuilt carb and replaced all fuel lines. Still won't hit. Squirted fuel in the carb. Still won't hit.

The wires to the shorting switch look real bad. Can this be the culprit? Any way to bypass them?

Yes, they definitely could. You can disconnect them and tape the ends off and see if you get spark, then. The switch works by completing the circuit and shorting across the points when you push the button. If there's a short to ground on either wire, I think it will kill spark to at least one cylinder.
GOod luck,

So unplug them and tape up the plug?

Once you take off the kill switch wires and tape the ends up, it won't be necessary to fool with the switch. Remember, at this point you don't have a kill switch so don't overrev it in neutral accidentally (that's a no-no either way)!
