So the teak wood on this boat is splitting and rotting and coming loose. I was wondering If anybody is familiar with this vessel and what kind of wood I should use to replace it with..or another option I contemplated was just flashing it over after replacing with some kind of sturdy wood so there wouldn't be any issues anymore.

You can use White oak to replace or Spruce. Make sure to seal the wood thoroughly (do NOT use Thompsons) and then stain it to the color you want. Then apply 3-4 coats of Spar Varnish and it will be good for 2-3 years. Touch up with sanding and coats of Varnish as needed.

Hey reading through old post and found yours. What did you decide to do? I'm about to start work on my 1975 20' searay Amberjack, open fisherman.
