Well, this is my first boat. My buddy and I decided to buy this Signa with a Johnson 115 on it for $500 with the trailer. I know nothing about boats and was doing some searching on Signa, and came up with nothing. Its a 19ft fiberglass tri haul boat.

Where to start, I've been reading a lot of the rebuilds on fiberglass boats. What do you all recommend?

I live in West Virginia, anyone close?

well it will not let me post a picture? Hmmm...
I'll try and put the picture as my Avitar

Looks like a worthwhile restoration project to me! If the Johnson runs (or doesn't need much to get running) you got a good deal. They're great motors. We dumped a bunch of money into getting our '73 Johnson 85 going 5 years ago but it's been reliable ever since with minimal maintenance.

Chances are good you'll have rotted deck, transom, and stringers to deal with in a glass boat that old. I have no experience with that stuff myself as my project was a tinny. From what I've seen on here taking the cap off, while a pain, makes everything else MUCH easier.

Yeah i'm probably going to try and tackle that after I get the motor running, the guy (co worker) I bought it off of, says that he had it out last summer and Engine light (overheating warning) came on after about 45min, so he took it out the water and replaced water pump, and thermostat and never tried it again. So I'm hoping to fire it up this week (if it quits snowing!!!) and see what i've got to work with.

Anyone really heard of owned a Signa?? I've read a little of what I could find and really only says they were built in 70's and company was bought out by Thunderbird? Hell I dont even know what year it is really just what my buddy told me.

Thanks

My dad has one with the 135 hp i/o merc and it's a heavy son of a gun but other than carb issues the boat has never let us down. It pulls a skier hard and we can load 10 people on it with no problem.

I didn't see your seating but it has a bench all the way around in front. It can handle some serious water. It has even seen a little time on Lake Eerie.

Here they are it isn't anything special and doesn't get any use since I bought a pontoon and we have 3 fishing boats. It sits in the barn and dad wants to sell it. It has the straight six 165 horse mercruiser and pulls good.
