1976 15hp coil and spark plug wire and boot setup??

Ok I orderd a new coil for my motor and got it in today...it has the coil, the wire, the boot, and this little spring looking thing that goes in the boot i guess that connects to the spark plug itself but here is my question how is it susposed to go in the boot and connected to the wire and I just assuming here but the other end of the wire just screws up in the bottom of the coil into the screw in the hole??? please help!! lol Thanks!

Doesn't the spring thing have a 90 degree bend in the end of it? Use a pair of pliers and squeeze the 90 degree end into the side of the plug wire, going through the plug wire side to side.
Use some sort of lube on the plug boot and insert the spring into the boot until the coil of the spring is seated all the way in the boot.

Thanks man you're right... I went and cut half of the old one just to see how that one was and so that's what I did but good news with the new coil I got my much needed spark in the bottom cylinder so things should be all good ima go give it a test tomorrow after work! Thanks man
