Friend of mine is working on converting his ss to a cc. He would like to remove the splashwell a create a rear casting deck like on the newer ones probable creating a smaller splashwell in the process. He was wondering if he could remove this with no strucural issues? I wasn't shure of the anwser, so I told him I would ask the pro's on here. what do you guys think?

Yah, entirely removing the splashwell (structural) is normally a bad move (without also adding in braces of some sort).

But....

By the sounds of it a new (smaller) splash well is going in along with a casting deck. All that business can certainly be structural! You can check the Jet Star link in my signature to see a splashwell reduction. I chopped it in about half (could have gone more). The Sea Nymph project in my signature has a very small splashwell along with a big casting deck at the stern if you'd like to check that.

Have yur buddy stop by so we can eye ball his boat eh:thumb:

hmm, kinda what I thought. I will see if I can get him on here with some pics. He is an older gentleman and not very computer savy. I will have to find out if he can or will access the internet. If not, maybe I can get some pics up for him.
