Iboats is currently out of Johnson Parts...or so the website says,,,,,,
I am looking for parts for my 25 HP Johnson
Anyway when I search parts for this model and year ...and then select "gearcase"...the exploded parts picture shows an o-ring called ''o-ring, Drive Shaft" part # 0303067....
Question
Is this o-ring supposed to go in the water pump....because I dont think so...there's already a lip seal in the water pump impeller housing.....
I may have read in my service manual that for my year engine there is not an o-ring needed......
Can anyone shed some light on the subject?
thanks

Goes on the top of the driveshaft. Should see a groove up by the splines goes in there.

Did you want to order that o-ring?

From your post, it seems you only want to know where it should go.

The exploded parts diagram for your motor is available here too.

A quick call to iboats and a very helpful cust serv rep said they have that o-ring in stock and avilable for shipping today. More then 1 in stock actually.

What other parts
is out of Johnson parts
Were you looking for?

It seals the splines to the crankshaft to prevent water from getting in. If water get into the splines when the driveshaft is installed it will rust itself right to the crankshaft. Thats why installing that and lubing the splines with grease is IMPORTANT.
