1976 35hp evinrude

Hello,<br />I'm a new boater this year and have yet to get into the water. I was given a couple of motors and I can't seem to get one water ready. My 35hp will not idle! I got it to start but It will not idle. It will stay running as long as I adjust the throttle speed when it sound like it is going to die. It bucks as opossed to a smooth run. It also has an electric choke that does work. <br /><br />thanks in advance...

I looked all over for ID #'s but could only find the numbers below. These came from what appears to be some type of aluminum freeze plug.<br /><br />#35653G<br />#0004766<br /><br />I started it up again today and the motor will idle a little and then it just starts coughing,choking and it sounds like its skipping then it will die out. It can be immediately started again but same thing over and over...
