Recently purchased above engine with '64 Starcraft Dart and need fuel mixture/lead additve advice please!

Engine is designed to run on unleaded gasoline.... no additive required.

Mixture is 50/1.... 1pt of good quality 50/1 oil to 6gal gasoline. A octane rating of 87 is fine.

Thanks Joe! Still trying to find free downloadable manuals, but not having much luck at this point. Would you recommend an additve to compensate for ethanol gas as well? Not even sure if gas pumps are labeled to give the ethanol percentage...

In most places (if not all), state law requires that fuel with ethanol added must have a sign/sticker on the pump, indicating the mix.

I would replace all the fuel lines in your system (motor, tank, etc.), if you are not sure that they are alcohol resistant. If you don't run the motor regularly, adding fuel stabilizer each time you refuel would be a good idea too.

At check on the web of Pure Gas .com will tell if there are any gas stations near you that sell nonethanol gas. I use stright gas in all my motors that or could set for extended periods, weedeaters, mowers, chainsaws, outboards, and inboards. The ethanol dose mix with water and will seperate from the gas when left to set for a fairly short time, and settles to the bottom of the tank, and is the first thing to be pumped to the motor. There have been several reports done on ethanol gas and its effects on motors that can be read on the net. Choices of what one uses for fuel can be better made then. JMO

Fresh gas:check. 50:1 mix:check. Blue Stabil:check. Marina tuneup prior to my purchase:check. Can't get the engine to fire even once. Highly irritating!
