I have a Johnson 40EL76A that came on 15 foot Monark I picked up a couple of months ago. I've gotten it running like a champ and I'm happy with it. The one thing it doesn't have is hydraulic tilt/trim. I can do without it. It does have a pin to lock it in full tilt for trailering, but it doesn't have a low water tilt lock. I'd like to be able to tilt it at about a 45 degree angle for skinny water. I know some outboards come with the lock, but I gues this one did not. Is there a way to retrofit it, or another tip or trick some of you smart folks have come up with? Hopefully my rambling makes sense.

Cool. Thanks for the idea!! I assume it's just a metal bar that you bend? Any suggestions on what size bar to start with and methods of bending it?

Where abouts are you in Jax? My mother lives down there and my sister did until recently. I'll be down in a few weeks to move mom from one apartment to another. Thought I'd try the pier. Anything biting?

i am one the Westside, near I 295 and 103rd st. have no idea about the pier, to be honest, i have never been on the new one. we are on a real cold snap, 25 at night for the next week. they say the reds and trout at the jetties and little jetties. want to get out there, but too cold right now.

3/8" stainless stock is what the original ones were made from. they are really hard to find these days. any welder will bend one for you.

Man I hope that cold gets out of there soon. It's dang cold here in north Georgia. I'll look into the 3/8 stainless. Wish I could just find one already done...

most of them were made to use when trailering, you tilted the motor, to keep the foot from dragging.
