1976 70 HP Johnson - Remote control broken

I can really keep this forum active with all the problems I have... And you all have me out tremendously.... but I have another problem..


Went out last weekend and cruised 9 miles, anchored up for a few hours, cruised home another nine miles, got about 75 yards from my dock and took the engine out of gear.

At that point, since I know this engine like the back of my hand, I heard the RPMs increase. I then looked down at the controls and realized the warm up lever has snapped off.


I saw replacements for the lever and used complete units from that era... is there anything new I can buy as far as remote controls for a 1976 70 hp Johnson?

You can buy new controls that can be adapted to work, however, once you get over the sticker shock , you may decide that buying and older model is just fine

PM me. I can set you up with the parts you need to repair your control. I use the same engine with a binnacle mount and no longer need the side mount control.

Well, the Jet has been an awesome help here.

Here are some photos of what I am talking about, I like the site and feel it would most important to add as much detail to thread as possible.

And yes, I looked at some controls and the price was a little steep. Ima stickin to fixin.
