My 70 runs great at idle and runs great at top speed. The middle is the problem. When I throttle up, the engine dies. If I hit the choke and throw the throttle forward, it will power up O.K..
Timing, plugs carbs are all clean and correctly adjusted correctly.
I was working on these carbs and carbs on my 55Hp at the same time and I think the wrong carbs may be on the wrong motors. I have since sold the 55. The carbs are the same, but I bet the jets aren't the same bore. Can anyone tell me what the bore should be on the jets. I think I am starving for gas just before going from low speed to high speed jets. I think I need more fuel (larger bore) on low speed jets.
Can someone tell me where to buy the jets, and what the stock jets are bored to?
It's virtually impossible to pull up a skiier when you can throttle up quickly without a "lull" and having to hit the choke.
Thanks for any thoughts on this question.

Sounds like the floats are set too low.
When the throttle is opened, the idle circuit becomes ineffective(this is normal).
The vaccum drops when the throttle is first
opened and the rpms are still low.
What little vaccum there is at this point has to start the main circuit by pulling the gas up to the main venturi fuel discharge ports from the fuel level set by the floats.
Idle speed set too low will also cause this problem.
( an accelerator pump would be nice....)
I have the same problem with my engine, occassionally dies comming off idle slowly.
I simply come off idle quickly then back off.

Great idea! I know everything is clean, but the float settings may be to low. How do you set yours?
Thanks for the reply.
