I am currently changing the exciter coil in the Magneto of my 76' Evinrude 9.9. Problem is on the old coil, the right and left wires are a different length to correspond with the condensers which are spaced at different distances from the coil.
On the new coil, the wires are also a diff length but are reversed. Now the old coil went on with the wires on the underside. If I install the new one in a position so that the wires actually reach the condensers, I will be putting it on upside down from the original coil position.
In addition the old coil had one solid blue wire and one with a blue base/white stripe.
The new coil has the same config only the solid blue wire has a white jacket over it and the striped wire has a black jacket over it.
If anyone has done this before I would really help to know what to do here.
