I have a new to me 76 9.9
Been running it in a 15 Gallon bucket just to see how she runs.
Starts right up but shoots a wad of milky substance upon start up.
After a number of minutes the water in the bucket is quite nasty.
After a few hours the water looks more brown than anything with clumps of froth clinging together in brownish clumps.
When running on muffs there is white froth coming out of the exhaust discharge and the prop exhaust. It flings around on my driveway.
I have read that this may be normal. Is it?
It had the wrong plugs in it and was sitting for many years prior to my acquisition.
You might ask why I have been running it for hours? Well I was hoping to "flush her out" after many years of hibernation. In fact she smokes less and less the more I run her.
I have been monitoring temperature of the block and it takes a long time for it to become warm to the touch and once it does it cools down quickly so I am assuming the thermostat and water pump are working but am questioning the time (20 minutes) it takes to warm up. There actually is a large amount of water coming out of the leg by the shift rod which I understand is not ideal/correct and there also is what appears to be exhaust staining in that area.
Any of your thoughts are appreciated.
Thank you!
