One other hull integrity problem I have with my starcraft is chaffing onling the front edge of the keel just as it transforms from horizontal to angled up at the bow, the spot where the hull would scrape up again rocks or whatever at the boat ramp. The aluminum is worn a bit and there were one of two small holes. I have Marine Tex all in there to fill the holes, but I'd prefer metal, but really don't feel like ripping out a bunch of rivets to rivet in a new custom made keel scrape that would require a compound curve (v-shaped that also bowed a bit). How have others on here dealt with this wear and tear? I would expect it to be a somewhat common problem.

Thanks

Iboats has Keel Guards they go right on the aluminum and save a ton of wear. Then you can beech the boat where you want to

Didn't even know they made these. Do they stay attached well. How does it attach, epoxy? I guess it would seal a leak due to chaffing too.

Thanks

My nephew put one on his Glasser, and he use 3M 4200 ( so it can be removed ).. I would put some Gluvit on the inside to.

Warm it up in the Oven on low, I think is the trick, makes it more plyable.

Are these 3M products you guys are recommending marine products (ie, bought from WestMarine) or does Home Depot carry this stuff. Just curious. I'm not doubting the quality if it's a Home Depot product, just curious where to buy the stuff.

My Home Depot has (unreliably) carried 4200 and 5200 and it is the real deal (when the have it).

Good to know Sure hope all that BP oil does not make a turn and head up the East Coast. Lordy thats a lot of oil, just makes you sick to see the damage to people and wildlife.

I have some family in the Naples and Marco area. Beautiful area. Sucks to see all that get effed up. Something about this whole debacle seems like it's intentional.

The whole thing is quite bizarre. There's plenty of other proven safe and effective methods for cleanup, to go with a highly toxic soup that essentially coats the floor of the gulf with this crap so it can't be cleaned up is insane. Sounds like managed chaos to me. </Tinfoil hat>
