I have a 1976 10 hp chrysler that is in awesome shape. It runs great and is a nice little motor. It had a little sputter here and there at idle and after a carb rebuild and tune up I rebuilt the fuel pump as per a suggestion here.

Now to the problem, this motor is electric start. I had to take alot of the wiring off to get to the fuel pump. I thought I put it all back the right way but I was wrong. Instead of starting when hooked to a bettery there is a small black box maybe 1" x 1" that just sizzles....

Where can I find a wiring diagram for this? No seloc or chilton manuals have been a help. Thanks in advance - Paul

Re: 1976 Chrysler 10 hp electrical issue

Tell you what: I won't have time for the next couple of days but after the new year I will post a couple of photos of an electric start 10. Is yours autoelectric with the starter motor sitting on top of the engine or does it have a regular starter motor?

If you want, and you are in Philly, if you have an hour to spare, perhaps you can drive up the Sure-kill and 202 with your engine and compare. Send me a private message if you want to do that.

Mine has a regular type outboard starter. No the funky one on top of the motor.
