Hey everybody! I'm happy to say I have gotten my 1976 CV 16 SS and am ready to put it on the water. The previous owner took great care of it, and was his first boat. He has 2, now, which is why he gave this one to me. He put it on the water around 2 weeks ago and said it started overheating almost immediately. The local boat shops say it's probably the impeller. I'm very mechanically inclined but three guys at work tell me boats are a whole different ball game and I should just fork out the $150-$180 to have it replaced. I feel I can do it.

Anyhow, my question is, is there anything special I need to know about changing the impeller? It has the 4 cylinder, 140 HP Mercruiser. I've read a lot on iboats as well as looked at many Youtube videos. However, I want to see if there's anyone who can give me some other perspectives or help. I realize I must be careful with lining up the key and gaskets, but is there anything else? Does the boat need to be in a certain gear before I take it apart, as well as after? Is there something special with the shift cable I need to know? All suggestions are appreciated.

Wow, that was easy. That impeller was TORN UP. I'm sure that was the problem. Going to put it back together tomorrow.
