Just bought a 1976 Evinrude 6hp. Was run last year. Don't know if it has stabil in the gas or not.

Hard starting but runs great above an idle. At idle it runs for a long time then dies if I am just trolling real slow. Can someone tell me the type of oil I should buy and the correct ratio to mix it. Would like to get rid of the 5 gallons of gas that came with it and start fresh. I get a lot of smoke at an idle and as I rev it up.

Also, can you tell me the type of plugs to put it it.

Didn't get any book with this motor so sorry for the questions. Did a search here but didn't find my year for the mixture ratio. But hey, first time on the lake, took home a limit of large mouth bass. Still full from supper! Life is good here in Northwest Wisconsin:)

Use oil rated TCW3 and mix it 50:1
Champion plugs RJ8C or J8C gapped to .030
