I bought a 89 29' Crest with this motor on it. I talked to the professional who took care of the motor since new. He said, the motor had less than 200 hrs on it which confirmed what the family told me. Runs and Starts great but I have just ran test runs beacause I am buiding a cabin on it. I need to know what except with gas usage. We will probably be put putting around. At slow speeds,closet1211.jpg how much time will 6 gallons give me. I am adding 600 lbs of cabin Thanks

Quite a few things effect fuel usage but a rule of thumb is if you move the decimal place of your horsepower one move to the left, that is how much fuel you will use at wide open throttle per hour. So in your case six gallons would last about 1/2 hour. Now most people do not run at WOT all the time and I have heard that 3/4 throttle will give the best mileage.

In any case I would imagine that within about 1hr to 1.5hrs you should be critically low on fuel.

The old rule of thumb used to be 10% of the hp at wot. Yours should use 13.5 gallons per hour as said above. Back it off so your throttle plates just start to close and mileage will improve.
