Hello Everyone, I took my boat out and it would run about half throttle at FULL throttle. Now and then it would sputter and take off at full speed only to come back down like you pulled back the throttle. What I can tell by switching the coils and plugs around is that the bottom plug will spark now and then. It will run on the top cyl. with either coil and plug. Bottom hole is getting fuel but won't run with either coil/plug. Is this a sign of a bad powerpack? I was reading on this site and some mentioned a stator? Will a bad stator mess up the fire on one plug only?

What is happening to you is the EXACT same thing that happened to me. My motor would only fire on the top cylinder the the second cylinder would fire occasionally. After replacing the coils, it turned out I had a bad powerpack. She runs like a monkey with singed nuts now!! I know next to nothing about outboards and I got all of my help here....Awesome advice. good luck!!
