1976 Evinrude 85 hp outboard runs good at slow speeds but no power when i give i

i had my boat out last week and it ran great then i took it out a few days ago and it ran good at slow speed but when i left the no wake zone i had no power and the motor would not go above 3200 RPM, when just a week ago it ran up to 6000 RPM and had pleanty of power. I then put it in neutral and it reved right up to 6000 RPM the usual. Even in reverse it has power, the motor went up to 4500 RPM in reverse. i changed the spark plugs and it didnt help anything. if anyone knows what is wrong with my motor please let me know thanks!

hey this might sound stupid but it happened to me!<br />check your gas line to make sure the connections are in good condition(even if it is new) also check the gas tank. the spout on the gas tank can be clogged. my motor was doing the same thing and the gas tank was clogged and the connector on the line was messed up(it was new). after we changed the line and cleaned out the spout on the gas tank it run fine....also bump the choke while you are running it see if that makes a difference if it improves then it could also be the carbs are gummed up <br /> 1BassFisherman
