I would suspect a powerpack or coil. When mine did that (also a '76 Johnson 85) it was the powerpack. I'm not sure if there are any negative consequesnces to do this, but I switched the powerpack leads between the left and right banks and unpluged the bank that was firing ok. If the plug fires, you have a bad pack. Otherwise you may want to try swapping a coil the same way.
