1976 Johnson 135 powerhead question

Hello all I am wondering if my 1976 Johnson 135 powerhead will fit on my 80s midsection.I really want to use this powerhead but I'm not sure if it will fit.do I have to make a gasket or anything like this?I've heard these motors have a ton of power but I don't like the midsection or trim design.these newer 80s midsections have a concealed unit that doesn't stick out like the 135s.

No. When the cooling system was redesigned in 1977 from one to two thermostats, the exhaust adapter assembly was changed. Your powerhead is the old style and will not bolt to the later midsection exhaust adapters. In addition, your gearcase shifts backwards from the 78 and newer ones.
