Re: 1976 johnson 2r76s 2hp

in is constantly in gear, i have one by the way, fuel/oil is 50/1 TC-W3 outboard motor oil, a quart of oil will last along time with that motor. to start, open vent on fuel tank cap, and open fuel valve under tank, move throttle to about 3/4 pull out choke, pull 3 times, if it has not started, push choke in and pull 3 more times, choke out 3 more times, once started, you will have to play with choke in and out, until the motor settles. you can stay tied to the dock to start it, then shut it down untie, then restart. if is not going to be a speed demon, but far better than paddling.

i have a 76 2hp for on my canoe. because they don't have neutral on a light boat you can never sit still. the motor will always be pushing you somewhere. i have gone in circles for several minutes while changing lures. they are a little noisy. mine has always been a little tempermental to start cold like TD said. you will have to play with the choke until you get your motors likes and dislikes figured out. i start with a full tank of gas and have a 1 qt fuel bottle i carry with me for a weekend. they are really cheap to run and fairly dependable.
