Alright, so the motor is a 76 seahorse 55 hp twin... doesn't like to idle, it will idle, just kinda rough, stalls when put into gear out of gear, it is also very hard starting hot, ive played with mixture screws and its better just not perfect. I'm assuming carbs need to be cleaned? Looking for any.thoughts on this topic, it sat many years with no running in a field...to give an idea, runs good off idle however.

Also, there is a vac. Nipple on lower side of intake, it was just uncapped when I got boat, do I just put a vac. Cap on it?? But I'm sure it should go somewhere any ideas?

Thanks!

Ah ha. I saw the nipple on the air box, thought to myself, no way.... that nipple goes through, to make a vac. Leak?? my thoughts were not to hook that up, but guess ill get some hose tomorrow....

Alright so my carbs are def causing an issue, the upper/top, gaskets are all swelled up, and inlet needle is the same, they are a red rubber, ?? so next question, wheres the best place to get rebuild kits?? the dealer gave me a part number of 0396701, but they want $38.00 a kit, seems kinda high. they gave me some line about aftermarket ones are poor quality and dont last? any ideas?? thanks again!!

I wouldn't worry about the Sierra or other after market kits. Iboats has the Sierra brand kit you need with float for around 17 bucks each. I used them on my 55 and my old 5.5. Be sure to get a new fuel pump gasket and clean the screen in yours when replacing it. You probably already know this but the hoses need replacing too due to the age. Just for the heck of it shine a light in your motor with the carbs off and look at the leaf plates. I found a screw in mine just recently while trying to fix a carb leak and poor running....Not likely you would have that, but I would have not thought that either..
