Trying to find out what the plug and point gaps are for my 76 Sea Ray with a 76 straightline 6 cylinder motor in it. Can anyone be of assistance? Casting numbers on the motor are 328576 GM.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 1976 Mercruiser straight 6 point gap

Points were set like 1/2 the plug gap in those days as I recall. I don't recall whose block it was, Ford or Chev, but it was rated at 165 hp. For a .035 plug gap the point gap was .017. I have some old Motors and Chilton auto manuals in the shop. When I go outside later I will check my numbers and if wrong will correct.

I just caught the GM in the p/n that says it's probably a 250 cu in GM 6 which they made thousands of. Chilton says it's .035 on the plugs and .019 on the points.....shucks, I missed it by .002. Grin
