Hi all,

I have a 1976 Mercury 1150 outboard and I am looking into the parts that will be needed to rebuild my carbs. I am not sure how to identify the carb model number. I am looking into buying a kit and there seem to be two different kits for this engine. There is the so called "KD" kit and the "WMK" kit. What is the difference and how do I know which one is applicable to my make/model/year engine? By the way, I am looking at kits at this link: http://www.iboats.com/Mercury-Carburetor-Kits/dm/*******.449793347--**********.296423542--view_id.271586

Cheers,
KC

Both kits look to be more universal, and have more gaskets than you will need. Both 18-7013 and 18-7021 looks like they will work. neither has floats, which you may need. That '76 motor should have the backdrag carbs, which means you will not use the banjo filter or the gaskets associated.

if it were me, I would hit a Merc Dealer or look on Crowleymarine.com and price out gasket set, inlet needle and seat and floats, for the exact motor year and model. You will still likely get extra gaskets, but you should get the correct inlet needle and seat and the right float. I have seen inlet needles that were 1/8" too short. these are hard to detect, but mess with the float height.
