So I just swapped out the old Mercontrol throttle for a used Quicksilver throttle (mid 90s probably) cross referenced the wire colors because i had to swap the female plug from the throttle control that goes to the male motor wire harness and seemed to work fine once hooked up, turned the key to on got a small click, held in and choke popped up turned it and starter just clicked so i tried to jump it with my portable jump start kit even though battery is brand new and now I get nothing, no clicks nothing and I am going to grab my voltage meter later and start testing wires but wondering if it's possible something got fried because I feel it's hooked up fine when I had it hooked up to jumpstart it did try to crank the engine over for a Split Second but now nothing at all no clicks choke won't pop up nothing. I did see some corrosion in the wiring harness wires that were from the original controller when I was soldering the wires together so I ordered a new plug harness to eliminate that issue just concerns me it started and ran fine never had an issue with it trying to start and now that it's completely dead I'm hoping maybe at worst is it possible I just fried a solenoid

Gee, how about using a period or two, to break up that run-on sentence?

A 1976 Merc 850 should have a standard ADI ignition, which should be compatible with a 90's control. Wiring colors will be different.

I doubt you fried a solenoid. Likely something is not connected properly or corrosion is the issue.
