i bough this for me and my sons to fish on i know what your thinking a powerboat to fish? but hey at 200 bucks with titles for boat and trailer why not so i got her home all seats in the back were rotted so i ripped out seats and carpet got the motor to run so thats a plus i guess the motor is probably worth more than what i payed for everything bought new carpet and two new seats i have absolutely no plans for restoring this its just for a couple seasons of fishing till i can afford a pontoon to hold everyone now on to my question there is a 8in by 8 in soft spot on either side of center stringer towards the rear right where old seats were mounted now before we get into ''your stringers are rotted your transom is rotted'' let me re-emphasize i am not restoring so my question is i plan on cutting out 1 square ft of half inch plywood painting it screwing it to floor with stainless screws then carpeting it how would i go about attaching seat and pedi do they make a bolt to come from underside of plywood that i should do before mounting to deck ? and lastly does anyone have any idea on a very cheap bench idea for behind driver and passenger seat i need it to be smaller so i can still get to motor if needed i was thinking an aluminum truck tool box with plywood, pad, and vinyl mounted thank you for any help

Restore doesnt just mean gut and redo, its also to make a boat water ready AND safe.

Sounds like you intend to take your family out fishing. In a possibly unsafe boat?

Boat safely

The guys hanging around the iboats dry dock to lend assistance dont typically support methods and plans that dont address underlying safety concerns.

Yeah unfortunately I've been around here long enough to know that no one is going to give you any advice on how to half-assed patch up a rotted hull. This one nearly guaranteed has wet foam, rotter stringers, at least partially rotted transom and weak deck. Don't get be wrong, I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars and months of work on an old tri-hull either. Best advice is take that running motor and find an aluminum hull to hang it on.

You bought a cheap trailer. At $200.00 someone just wanted to get rid of it. Take the advise from the guys above. There is no "half assed" fix for a boat or an airplane. I hope the transom doesn't decide to fall off driving down the road or when you have your loved ones on the water. Personally I would never put it in the water with known rot. Read my moto at the bottom of my page.

SORRY BUT...Unless you're fishing a small pond with no CHANCE of encountering wakes and or waves, and everyone on board is a STRONG SWIMMER...
I ABSOLUTELY agree with the others. IF you put you and your family on this boat without Personal flotation devices and having a Disaster Plan in place so someone can come pick you and them up when floating in the Lake...it should be a Criminal Offense. Do it Right or Don't Do it!!!!

no, but seriously, don't risk it with a rotten boat and don't cover it up if you're not going to fix it
