1976 VIP - Battery placement? Help.

1976 VIP runabout

I am trying to figure out the proper mounting / placement location for the primary battery. Would it be placed in the area just to starboard (forward of the outboard mounting location? The reason I ask is that the boat came with a portable gas tank this located on the centerline just forward of the bilge hole and want to make sure I don't create a fire hazard.

Yes, I believe so.
That is where my battery is located on my 1989 VIP 1750 Vision.
There is a plastic battery tray attached to the floor.The tray has a strap to hold the battery in place.Also there is a piece of plywood between starboard and center to Isolate the two areas.
I have an aluminum fuel Tank ( 20 gal) attached to the floor in center.
